It’s a known fact that humans are not perfect. We do things out of fear or love. But why should seeking forgiveness from Allah often is the way to peace to mind?
You have to, no we have to always ask Allah for forgiveness. Because even if we can boast that we don’t commit sins (or shrink) like gambling, killing, backbiting or Al-sinna. We can’t be sure of the minor sins we may have committed.
In the Holy Quran. Allah says.
”I [Noah) said [to them]: ‘Ask forgiveness from your Lord; verily, He is Oft-Forgiving. He will send rain to you in abundance, and give you increase in wealth and children; and bestow on you gardens, and bestow on you rivers. ” Qur’an 71: 10-12
If you think about the thousands of incidents going on around the world. You may come to understand that nothing makes it worst than the fact that bad people are increasing all day.
Those people would ask forgiveness not, yet doing all they can to commit every possible sin they are capable of.
It is just as if there is nothing like sins, everything seems normal and most people can’t identify the good from the bad.
Reaping The Benefits Of Seeking Forgiveness From Allah Often
So seek forgiveness from Allah more often and you will reap the benefits of doing so: peace of mind, lawful provisions, righteous offspring, and plentiful rain.
And [commanding you]: Seek the forgiveness of your Lord, and turn to Him in repentance, that He may grant you good enjoyment, for a term appointed. And that He may bestow His abounding Grace to every owner of grace [i.e. the one who helps and serves the needy and deserving, physically and with his wealth, and even with good words].” Qur’an 11: 3
For me reading this verse, my heart feels at peace. But why maybe because of the abounding grace Allah will best word upon us for seeking forgiveness. Or because I still have some kind of hope.
However, it could be the following hadith that soften my heart and make me calm.
Which I know it’s the same for you.
Right?
Prophet Muhammed Confirms That Seeking Forgiveness Brings Happiness
The Prophet (Blessings and Peace be upon him) said: “Whosoever seeks forgiveness (from Allah) often, then Allah makes for him a good ending for every matter of concern and provides for him a way out of every tight situation.”
Related in Bukhari is a hadith that is known as the chief of Al- Istighfaar:
“O Allah, You are my Lord and none has the right to be worshipped except You. You have created me and I am your slave, and I am upon your covenant and promise as much as I am able to be. I seek refuge in You from the evil that I have perpetrated. I confess to You Your favour upon me, and I confess to You my sin, so forgive me; for verily, none forgives sins except You.”
Some of this content is taken from the book: Don’t Be Sad by ‘Aaidh ibn Abdullah al-Qarni
All that been said, It’s not just to calm your heart, but the benefit of moving closer to Allah and running away from Shaitaan for seeking forgiveness from Allah Often. That will make your fulfilment in this life and hereafter.
And Allah knows best.
