Taliban Plan To Implement Monarch-era Constitution in Afghan – To Replace The Islamic Republic’s Constitution

Anadolu Agency reported that Abdul Hakim Sharaey said, the Taliban’s acting justice minister vowed on Tuesday to replace the Islamic Republic’s Constitution with monarch-era Constitution in Afghan, a new legislation from the 20th century.

As the report outlined, the statement was made by Abdul Hakim in a meeting Kabul, with Wang Yu – the China’s Ambassador

It was posted on the Facebook page of the Justice Ministry. reading that ” The Islamic Emirate (Afghanistan under Taliban rule) will implement the constitutional law of the former King Mohammad Zahir Shah for a temporary period without any content that contradicts Islamic law and the principles of the Islamic Emirate,”

Sharaey added that, ” laws and international treaties that are not against Islam and the Taliban government and principles would be respected by the group.

In the statement, the Chinese diplomat assured the Taliban leader that Beijing wanted to maintain diplomatic relations with the group and help lift sanctions.

During the meeting, Sharaey emphasized that the group wants to establish “good and friendly” relations with the world.

Following the fall of the Taliban’s first regime in 2001, the 1964 Shah-era Constitution was re-enacted during the interim government, just before the country adopted a new Constitution in 2004.

The Taliban had no Constitution in place however, they ruled based on Sharia decrees. During their first regime in Afghanistan from 1996 to 2001.
