Fact 1: The revelation of the Quran took place over 23 years.
Facts 2: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was 40 years old when the first verse of the Quran was revealed to Him.
Fact 3: The Holy Quran has some other names. Which are: Al-Huda (The Guidance), Al-Dhikr (The Reminder), Al-Furqan (The Criterion-for judging right from wrong), Al-Shifa (The Healing), Al-Mau`iza (The Admonition), Al-Rahmah (The Mercy), Al-Nur (The Light), Al-Haqq (The Truth), and Al-Burhaan (The Clear Argument).
Fact 4: The literal meaning of the Quran is “that which is being read”.
Fact 5: The revelation of the Quran begins in the month of Ramadan.
Fact 6: 86 Surahs was revealed in Makkah, also, in Madinah 28 Surahs were revealed.
Fact 7: Quran has been divided into 30 equal parts called the Juz.
Fact 8: There was no compiled copy of the Quran during Prophet’s life. But the Prophet(PBUH) and the Sahaba memorized the verses of the Quran by heart. Which was scribed on stones, animal skin or palm trees.
Fact 9: There are two periods for the revelation of the Quran. In Makkah which is 13 years and 10 years in Madinah after the Prophet (PBUH)’s migration.
Fact 10: There are 114 Surahs in the Holy Quran. Each Surah gives a covey special message.
Fact 11: Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through the angel Jibril.
Fact 12: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to revise the verses of the Quran with Angel Jibril every year. In the year before his death, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) revised Quran with Jibril twice.
Fact 13: After the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) died, the caliph, Abu Bakr compiles the scribes of verses of the Quran.
