Hezbollah Brings Iranian Fuel into Lebanon Means Iran Risks Provoking US Sanctions

The Shi’ite Muslim group believe that the energy crisis is on the brink of the end, as Hezbollah brings Iranian Fuel into Lebanon through Syria on Thursday. However, some say the country risks provoking US sanctions.

The Hezbollah’s yellow flag crowded the atmosphere – from the lamppost while dozens of fuel trucks, carrying Iranian fuel entered northeastern Lebanon around the al-Ain village.

On the flag were words that thank the Syrian President, Bashar al-Assad. It read ‘Thank you Iran. Thank you Assad’s Syria.’

The trucks passed through al-Ain, some people who flock out waved Hezbollah’s flag while other, especially a woman and boy threw petals at one vehicle.

After being told going to Lebanon means a risk – the US sanction. The ship carrying the fuel docked in Syria on Sunday said the Iran-backed Hezbollah terror group.

Washington has reiterated that US sanctions on Iranian oil sales remain in place. But it has not said whether it is considering taking any action over the move by Hezbollah. – Algemeiner&Reuter

Founded by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in 1982, Hezbollah has long been part of Lebanon’s governing system, with ministers and members of parliament.

Also, Hezbollah leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said ‘ a second ship with fuel oil will arrive in the Syrian port of Baniyas in a few days, with a third and fourth, respectively carrying gasoline and fuel oil, also due.’

In Lebanon the energy crisis was said to have caused a financial meltdown since 2019, making more than three-quarters of the population into poverty.
