In history, Fir’awn lives a life of serious remarkable, which let us know the greatest power of Allah (SWT). Because the story of Fir’awn and His Armies when they chased after the Israelites, which caused their destruction.
That said, this article is the second of the series on the story of Fir’awn and his armies, you can read the first, The Story of Fir‘awn and His Armies – Part 1. But here’s a quick recap of what I explain in the first part.
Fir’awn ruled in Egypt, where he proclaimed himself as god and he didn’t allow anyone to accept Islam from prophet Moosa (Peace be upon him). Whenever the truth is clear to someone, they will hide their belief from Fir’awn because he may sentence them to death.
He knows for sure that what the prophet Moosa (Peace be upon him) was preaching is the truth, but with his arrogance, he is willingly against it and always treat those that accept Islam bad.
Prophet Moosa’s Words To Children of Israel
On this, Prophet Moosa (Peace be upon him) said, “O, my people! If you have believed in Allah, then put your trust in Him if you are Muslim (those who submit to Allah’s Will).” They said, “In Allah, we put our trust. Our Lord! Make us not a trial for the folk who are zalimoon (i.e. do not make them overpower us). And save us by Your Mercy from the disbelieving folk.” – Soorah Yoonus 10:84-86.
Prophet Moosa (Peace be upon him) encourage them to put their faith in Allah and seek help and protection from Him (Allah), so they all complied with Moosa’s (Peace be upon him) orders. As a result, Allah made a release and way to escape from the situation they were in.
As Allah said in Soorah Yoonus Q10:87, And We inspired Moosa and his brother (saying), “Take dwellings for your people in Egypt, and make your dwellings as a qiblah, and perform as-Salah (iqamat us-Salah), and give glad tidings to the believers.”
Allah revealed to Moosa (Peace be upon him) and his brother, Haroon (Peace be upon him) that they should tell the Children of Israel to take houses that were separate from the houses of the Copts so that they might be ready to leave in case they were commanded to do so, and in that case, they would know each other’s houses.
According to Mujahid, Abu Malik, Ibraheem An-Nakha‘i, Ar-Rabee‘, AdDahhak, Zaid Ibn Aslam, his son, ‘Abdur Rahman and others. The saying of Allah: “and make your dwellings as a qiblah…” (Soorah Yoonus 10:87), it was said that it means places of worship and it was also said that it means as places in which you offer frequent prayers.
Prophet Moosa’s Invocation Against Fir‘awn
Similarly, Allah (Most High) says, Moosa said, “Our Lord! You have indeed bestowed on Fir‘awn and his chiefs splendour and wealth in the life of this world. Our Lord! That they may lead men astray from Your Path. Our Lord! Destroy their wealth, and harden their hearts, so that they will not believe until they see the painful punishment.”
Allah said, “Verily, the invocation of you both is accepted. So keep you both to the Straight Way (keep on doing good deeds and preaching Allah’s Message with patience), and follow not the path of those who know not (the truth, – to believe in the Oneness of Allah, and also to believe in the Reward of Allah: Paradise) – Soorah Yoonus 10:88, 89.
However, this was a momentous invocation which Allah’s Kaleem, Moosa (Peace be upon him), made against Fir‘awn, out of anger for Allah’s sake, because of his arrogant refusal to follow the truth, his turning away from Allah’s Path, his disobedience, his dogged insistence on adhering to follow that which is false and the indisputable evidence, which is why he said, “Our Lord! You have indeed bestowed on Fir’awn and his chiefs” (Soorah Yoonus 10:88) “splendour and wealth in the life of this world, our Lord! That they may lead men astray from Your Path.” (Soorah Yoonus 10:88).
It means that those who exalt the importance of the life of this world is bedazzled by this, causing the ignorant among them to think that they are following what is correct, because of the fine things, such as garments, ships, houses and palaces, foodstuffs, beautiful landscapes, great power, that they possess.
They have forgotten these things were theirs in the life of this world, not in the Hereafter.
In conclusion, that’s how Allah (the greatest) answer the invocation of Prophet Moosa (PBUH) and the most disastrous event for Fir’awn and his Armies.
