Virtues Of The Day Of Arafah – Part 2

If there are no more virtues for the Day of Arafah except its expiation of two years sins. It is worth fasting on the day, but there is more.

In fact, the first part of the virtues of the day of Arafah explains three different reasons why the day is so special and blessful to perform Ibadah.

However, in case you missed part 1 of the series read first before going through this part.

Fasting On Arafah Day Expiates For Two Years

Like I mentioned above, you should take it seriously to fast on the day of Arafah because sins of two years – the previous year and of the coming year will be expiated. Meaning that Allah will forgive you.

As it was reported from Abu Qutaadah (may Allaah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allaah (PBUH) was asked about fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah. He said, “It expiates for the sins of the previous year and of the coming year.” Narrated by Muslim.

To outline, Fasting on the day of Arafah is mustahabb for those who are not on Hajj (you may fast or not). In contrast, it does not allow for those who are on Hajj to fast on the day of Arafah because the Prophet (PBUH) did not fast on this day in ‘Arafah. It was narrated that he forbade fasting on the Day of ‘Arafah in ‘Arafah.

Yawm Arafah: The Day On Allah Took The Covenant From The Progeny Of Adam

A report from Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah took the covenant from the loins of Adam in Na’maan, (Arafah). He brought forth from his loins all his offspring and spread them before Him, then He addressed them, and said: Am I not your Lord?

They said, ‘Yes, we testify,’ lest you should say on the Day of Resurrection: ‘Verily, we have been unaware of this.’ Or lest you should say: ‘It was only our fathers aforetime who took others as partners in worship along with Allaah, and we were (merely they’re) descendants after them; will You then destroy us because of the deeds of men who practised Al-Baatil (polytheism and committing crimes and sins, invoking and worshipping others besides Allaah)? al-A’raaf Q7:172-173” – Narrated by Ahmad and classed as Saheeh by al-Albaani.

That said, there is no greater day than this and no greater covenant than this.

Day Of Arafah – Forgiveness Of Sins And Freedom From The Fire

With all the virtues of the day of Arafah from part one of this series and those listed above, here is another, people get freedom from fire (Heal) and are forgiven.

The proof goes, in Saheeh Muslim, it was narrated from ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “There is no day on which Allaah frees more people from the Fire than the Day of ‘Arafah. He comes close and expresses His pride to the angels, saying, ‘What do these people want?’”

Likewise, It was reported from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Allaah expresses His pride to His angels at the time of ‘Ishaa’ on the Day of ‘Arafah, about the people of ‘Arafah. He says, ‘Look at My slaves who have come unkempt and dusty.’” Narrated by Ahmad and classed as Saheeh by al-Albaani.

In conclusion, by now you should have to know the virtues of the day of Arafaa, and this should guide you to know how precious this day is. That said, this is the end of the series that explain the virtues of the day of Arafah, and I urge you to go through it again.

May Allah guides our knowledge for He is the only One that knows best.
